Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment
Damage can occur to the teeth people use for eating when proper care and hygiene are neglected. When this damage occurs in the root or pulp portion of the tooth, the treatment applied is called root canal treatment. Through the treatments we perform, we prevent tooth loss.

Procedure of Root Canal Treatment
We provide root canal treatment in our dental office when the nerve tissues in the root of the tooth suffer significant damage. After taking X-rays and conducting a thorough examination in our dental office, we decide if root canal treatment is necessary. The treatment involves the following steps:

  • First, we ensure that our patients do not feel any pain by numbing the root of the tooth.
  • We place an apparatus on the tooth to keep the area dry during the procedure.
  • We then create an opening in the tooth. Through this opening, we remove the pulp, infection, and decayed tissues.
  • After cleaning the root canal and removing harmful substances, we proceed to widen the root canals.
  • Once the root canals are thoroughly cleaned, we fill the cavity from which decay and infection were removed. We use filling materials for this process.

After filling the root canal, we conclude the root canal treatment. If the treatment cannot be completed in a single session, we place temporary filling material in the cavity to prevent any harm to the tooth until the next appointment.

Duration of the Treatment
The duration of the treatment we provide with our endodontic specialists and dentists can vary depending on the condition of the tooth and its root. If there is no infection in the root, the treatment can be completed in a single appointment. However, if an infection is present, resolving the infection, cleaning the canals, and refilling them may require several appointments.

In such cases, we provide temporary filling to the cavity until the next appointment. After cleaning the root and eliminating the infection, we complete the root canal treatment.

Is the Treatment Painful?
The treatment we perform in our dental office is not painful. Since we numb the area where the treatment will be applied, individuals do not feel the removal of the pulp and nerve. Usually, there is no pain after the treatment. However, in cases where root canal treatments are performed due to toothaches, some discomfort may persist for a while. Yet, our patients can alleviate their pain with the pain relievers we provide.

Post-Treatment Care
After completing the treatment in our dental office, we advise our patients on what not to do.

Among the things individuals who have undergone root canal treatment should avoid are:

  • Patients need to pay attention to oral and dental hygiene. Regular brushing of teeth is especially important.
  • If the treatment is not completed in a single session, patients should refrain from using the treated tooth.
  • Even after the treatment is completed, individuals should avoid consuming hot and cold foods for a few hours.
  • They should avoid hard foods.

In addition to these, if complications arise, our patients can seek support from our dental office to resolve them.
